Even Frozen Iguanas Can Come Back to Life!

My first year as a Floridian has been a rather interesting one. Prior to moving here, all I knew about Florida was Tampa, Orlando, Disney and Miami. I knew nothing about Palm Beach County (the area I moved to). I heard of Fort Lauderdale but other than landing at Fort Lauderdale 3 times in my speaking career, spending 1 day each time for the speaking engagement, and then flying right back out the next day, I knew absolutely nothing about FTL. I didn’t know how beautiful Boca Raton and Delray Beach are. I never visited Naples, and the only Naples I knew about was in Italy. Long story short, I knew nothing about Florida outside of the 3 areas I frequented the most.

I’ve visited Miami many times throughout my speaking career, and for Business Consulting purposes. I’ve worked with many of the companies that were expanding to Miami in the turn of the century, and probably visited Miami well over 50 times from 2000 to 2019. I never took the rental outside of the South Miami (South Beach) area, so learning about North Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Deerfield Beach, Boynton Beach, West Palm Beach, Palm Beach, Naples, Manalapan, Marco Islands, etc. was never in the itinerary. I’ve learned so much about South Florida in just one year that I can kick myself for not exploring this beautiful area of the United States sooner.

To my surprise, there is one thing I learned about Florida that was very unexpected. I never knew Florida gets cold. I’m not talking about “let me wear an undershirt” cold. I’m talking about the type of cold that has people running to stores to buy a sweater, hat, jacket and scarf now because they can’t wait for it to be delivered tomorrow. I’m talking about the type of cold that has iguanas falling from trees because their metabolism slows down. I didn’t even know that was a thing, but apparently it is. Iguanas freeze in Florida’s cold weather.

I titled this Frozen Iguanas Come Back to Life but this is not a blog about iguanas. I just wanted to get your attention. This blog is about thawing yourself out of a frozen season. It is about warming up and heating up after a season when you’ve been cold. This is a blog about making moves in your life despite the inevitable moments of slow progress we all encounter.

If you don’t know the following by now, you probably haven’t been paying attention or simply haven’t read my other blog posts. I am unapologetically Christian about my approach to life and business development. My life coaching and my business coaching have always been driven by Christian Bible-Based principles. I don’t mean arrogantly, narrowly, uncaringly or Christian. Nor will I ever pretend to be perfect. I simply mean that if you read my blogs, expect me to bring every topic of discussion back to The Word of God.

I will never imply that I am always right. I am not a know-it-all. As a matter of fact, I’ve made mistakes and been corrected by intelligent men and women I love and respect. I know that although God reveals Himself to us, if we understood everything about Him, He would cease to be God. So I am always open to someone else’s input, and welcome yours as well. You can send me feedback and comments via this blog or through my website’s contact tab.

So I do pull a lot of information from science, philosophy, sociology, higher education, colleagues, other blogs and publications, books, studies, statistics, debates, etc. etc. etc., but I bring it all back to the Word of God for cross reference. I’ve learned that the Bible is the greatest source when trying to figure out if any advice is right or wrong for my life and for my business. We can all be wrong at some time, but God is never wrong.

So, what have I learned from mentors, coaches, industry leaders, teachers, colleagues, and of course from the Bible about thawing out after a period of hibernation? You have to refresh, refocus and sometimes you must rebrand. The trick is in accomplishing all of this without losing who you are and why you started. There’s the key word; why. We’ll get to that one in a bit.

We should start with the first task at hand; refresh. When a relationship or a business goes into stale, cold, stagnant mode, the first thing you have to do is hit that refresh button. Take a few steps back, take a deep breath, shake the cobwebs off, do some cardio to get the blood flowing, drink a few cups of good Colombian or Turkish coffee (that stuff is strong), close your eyes and transport your mind to your happy place (the beach with #TheFeistyColombian), and refresh yourself.

What does it mean to refresh? I found a few definitions of the word. To give new strength or energy to; reinvigorate. To restore strength and animation to a person, place, thing or situation. To freshen something or someone up. To top off your drink (some of you know what I mean). To revive interest for or in something. And, for all you techies out there, to update or renew (something, such as an image, the contents of a computer memory, or the displayed version of a Web page) especially by sending a new signal.

For our situation, when your relationship or business hits a low energy, low interest, low desire point, reinvigorate it by doing something unexpected, spontaneous and high energy. Get animated! Stand up, walk around, run with it, jump up, jump up and get down! Skip the topping off the drink part. No need to bring alcohol into the problem. Unless it’s a glass of wine with your lady. And for you techies out there, hit that refresh button and start sending out some new, high energy, stronger, clearer signals.

The next step is to refocus. How does one refocus when a situation seems to have hit the lowest of low points? This is where your preparation before you get into a business or a relationship comes into play. See, I’ve spoken and written a lot about our need to prepare ourselves properly prior to launching anything, even a romantic relationship as awesome and special as the one I share with my Kingdom Queen Claudia. Part of your preparation is to have a clearly defined why that is at the center of your new journey.

When I met my beautiful lady, I was at a low point in my life. I had been divorced, betrayed, and felt unworthy of being loved. But God! God kept putting it in my heart that it was not OK for me to live the rest of my life alone. Anyone that knew me was well aware that I believed in love, as long as it was directed towards someone else and not to me. Since my divorce, I had not dated, nor had I even considered getting into another relationship.

But God! God kept pointing me to scripture that clearly said it is not OK for me to be alone, we are not supposed to do life alone, a life without companionship and fellowship is not a Christian life, and scripture that clearly showed the dangers of loneliness and isolation. So after battling emotionally, spiritually and physically for quite some time, I refreshed, refocused and asked God for a partner, a suitable helper, a companion, an equal, a Kingdom Wife that loves HIM more than she loves herself or me.

I knew that asking for this seemingly impossible woman was not enough. I had to have a well defined why for the request. I had to understand why I was asking for such a specific type of wife. I understood that my why was inspired by the many deficits that past relationships had brought into my life. I understood that the most important relationship in my life was my relationship with God and that I had often neglected, or suppressed that relationship in the pursuit of my relationship with others. I understood that my why was my relationship with God, and that if I didn’t find a woman that understood, respected and lived a life in the same manner, our relationship would not survive.

God hit a home run! My God dropped the mic when He brought my Claudia into my life. See, when I made God the center of our relationship before there was a relationship, when I made Him the why, He blessed me with my request for a Godly woman, and then sprinkled that blessing with a whole bunch of other blessings I like to call His why nots. I mean, have you seen my wife? Have you spoken to her? Have you seen what she can do? Have you experienced her energy? Have you been blessed with the wowness she brings to a room? NO? Well, you need to hire me to speak at one of your events! You’ll get to see why she is #TheFeistyColombian.

I know I went on and on about my lady. Hey men, if you aren’t feeling like this about your lady, you may need to take an assessment of your relationship and your why for being there. You may need to refresh and refocus. And ladies, you better be feeling the same #KingdomWowFactor about your man. If not, perhaps YOU need to take a step back to refresh and refocus your relationship. My Kingdom Queen and I help those seeking to live a #KingdomMarriage life. We can talk about that at a later time. Just reach out to me HERE and let’s talk about it.

Businesses need to refresh and refocus as well. Sometimes it’s as simple as changing the direction in which your business is going. Sometimes it is as simple as taking your eyes off all the problems and focusing your attention or resources on something new or different. There is a reason why companies change logos, change industries, change locations, spend their resources on new, innovative tools and practices, and bring in a consultant to help them do this.

Do you know what’s the first thing our consulting firm, GC Rosario Group does when working with leadership to refresh and refocus their team, company or organization? We sit down with the founders and leaders and figure out the why that launched this team, company or organization in the first place. Why did you get started? If that is still your why, we can help you refresh and refocus. If your why has changed, and it sometimes does, we can then reinvent you and step into the third part of the thawing out process.

This is where we enter the third phase of revamping your success journey. It’s not always a necessary step, but in extreme cases where you are so cold and stagnant that you don’t see a way past the icebergs, we can go into the rebranding phase. This is where real, extreme, radical change may be the brick oven type of heat that your company needs.

What does it mean to rebrand? It’s to change or update the brand or branding of a product, service, team, organization, etc. It’s when we aim to publicly refer to or describe your organization in a new or different way. This is where we, as experienced consultants change the corporate image of a company or organization.

Just so that you know, rebranding is not something that is exclusive to teams, companies or organizations. I was once hired by a top level, top producing, Founder/CEO of a major company to walk with him through a process of personal rebranding over a six month period. This highly accomplished woman wanted to change her personal brand in order to change her companies brand. She knew that because the brand started with her, the rebranding of the brand should start with her. She was right, and it revitalized the brand and tripled her level of success. Good call B.C.

Where are you in your cold season? Do you feel you just need a little space to refresh and refocus? Are you in need of a total recall, overhaul, rebrand and relaunch? This all depends on how your current situation is staying true to your original why, and if there is indeed a new why to take into consideration. We can figure this out together. I offer a half hour confidential, complimentary consultation as the Senior Consultant at GC Rosario Group. Let’s talk about it.

By the way, I am writing this on a weekend when I woke up to 50 degree weather, that quickly dropped into the mid 40’s, and the wind was bending every palm tree and throwing stuff around. The forecast for the week? We’ll be in the 30’s. IN FLORIDA? Not even in North Florida, but in SOUTH FLORIDA! Go figure! Your friend George L. Rosario moves to Florida and barely past my first year anniversary as a Floridian, I drag New York City January temperatures down here with me. What’s next? SNOW?

George L. Rosario is a Brooklyn NY born & raised businessman & entrepreneur turned consultant. He started GC Rosario Group with his lovely wife Claudia. The Power of The Words We Say… To Ourselves

There is a huge difference between starting a sentence or a comment with the words “I feel” and “I am.” How use these two phrases in our sentences and our expressions will make a huge difference in our lives. I would go as far as to say that they can make you or break you. After all, death and life are in the power of the tongue ( Proverbs 18:21 ). I have worked for m a ny years with broken men, broken teams, broken churches and organizations, broken companies, and some large corporations that are truly broken. I have even worked with broken politicians in office, and broken criminals in jail, and some of you right now may be thinking there’s not much of a difference between the two. I know within minutes whether or not I will be able to help a person or team’s situation. This is why I provide a free of cost,  complementary 30 minute consultation  for anyone who is seeking the services of  GC Rosario Group . See, many people fail to realize that their trouble start...

From Nonsense to Real Sense

Did you hear about the  YouTube   video that was viewed   68,000,000   times and therefore earn e d it’s creator thousands of dollars she would have never earned otherwise? Did you hear that there are celebrities who charge upwards of $ 1,000,000   to give you a “shout out” post on their social media? Did you hear about folks who made millions purchasing   domain names   on   GoDaddy   and then selling them to people who were desperate for those names? Did you hear about teenagers who have made six figures and even millions   selling items online   that he purchased at the dollar store, without ever storing any of these items in a warehouse or storage facility himself? What do these examples of  wins  have in common. At face value, probably very little. But when we did our research, we found there are actually numerous similarities between each one of these examples. All have to do with supply and demand. All have to do wi...

Dear Haters, Thank You For The Love

I always thought the term  hater  would only be found in urban dictionaries. I didn’t expect to find it in mainstream academic dictionaries. I decided to  Google the definition of hater  and I discovered that the term is more mainstream than I thought, and that it isn’t always labeled as slang. Apparently, I was wrong about this word. The  Cambridge English Dictionary  defines  hater  as a person who says or writes unpleasant things about someone or criticizes their achievements, especially on the internet. Your  D ictionary  describes is as a slang, pejorative speaking of one who expresses unfounded or inappropriate hatred or dislike, particularly if motivated by envy; as a slang term for someone who is negative or who discourages others; someone who feels strong bad feelings against a person or thing. The  Merriam-Webster Dictionary  defines it as a person who hates someone or something, or as a person who actively and...
