22 Bible Rules About Money for 2022

If you’ve never read the Bible or if you are new to reading and applying the Bible to your business, you may find it more confusing than helpful. When I first started applying the Bible to my entrepreneurial ventures, I was a bit confused. Then again, I was a kid who was still in High School. Non-the-less, because I had no direction from a Bible-based mentor, I made many mistakes and went in the wrong direction a few times. I was trying to define my relationship with money using the Holy Bible when I didn’t have a strong enough relationship with the Word of God.

Not understanding the Bible gave me the wrong impression about a Christian’s relationship with money. The Holy Scripture makes many powerful statements about the stewardship of wealth, and about our relationship with money. Because of some of the scriptures I read in the beginning of my journey, and because of some of the interpretations of those scriptures I received from people who labeled themselves religious, I was more confused and thought money was evil.

Money is important to the way society operates. It gives me the provisions needed to feed my family. It allows me to pay for a roof over my head. When I was first starting out in business, the lack of money left me struggling to make it. When at the age of 19 I suffered a fire in my place, I didn’t have enough money saved to recover quickly. I then started seeking Bible scholars who were also entrepreneurs so they could help me develop a Bible based relationship with money.

The first lesson I had to learn was that I had to unlearn everything the priests had taught me about money. I was told for years that money is the root of all evil. I was told that having money was not a good thing and that it shouldn’t be a focus in my life. They told me that rich people couldn’t make it to heaven and that God didn’t care about rich people. What I found hypocritical is that the same priests that were telling me money was evil were asking for money every Sunday and were part of a religious institution that has more money than most governments in this world.

I am in no way speaking ill of priests. As a matter of fact, it was a priest who first started teaching me about how to develop a real relationship with money that was not against God’s Holy Word. He was a Bible scholar who applied the Bible to all walks of life, including business and money. He taught me that God calls us to be good stewards of our money, and that we are to do good with it. The first lesson he taught me was that money is not the root of all evil, but that the love of money is the root of all evil. He taught me that if I love money more than I love doing good for others, I will always use money the wrong way. He taught me that I should love what I can do for others with my money rather than what money does for me. He taught me that evil slips in when money becomes an idol and takes the place of God in people’s lives. This often treats money like a tool to do harm instead of good towards others.

The more I researched what the Bible actually says about money, the more I learned what God wants us to do with money. We are supposed to be good stewards of our money, to use it to bless others rather than just splurge on ourselves. It should never be used to control, manipulate or hurt others. We are to be disciplined in our handling of money, including tithing and making gift offerings. I also learned that if you want more money, you must be fair, just and responsible with the money we currently have. “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.” Luke 16:10

Below are some very important money principles and rules I’ve learned to apply to my professional life in the marketplace. I pray you find them useful in your own ventures.

Money Rule #1: Be Honest In How You Acquire Money.
‘Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, But he who gathers by labor will increase.’ Proverbs 13:11

Get-rich-quick schemes lead to failure. Wealth acquired dishonestly never lasts. When I was a kid growing up in Brooklyn, I saw the drug dealers on the corner with nice sneakers, nice cars, nice jewelry, and lots of pretty girls. This was attractive to me until an old drug dealer asked me, “How many other old drug dealers do you know?” I answered “You.” To which he said, “That’s because most of us die young or end up in jail.” He told me a kid from a good family had no reason to be hanging out with losers like him, and he was right.

Getting money quickly doesn’t just happen illegally. I’m sure you’ve heard stories about poor people who become lotto winners, or those who inherit large sums of money. They may have stopped being poor overnight, but they never got rid of their poor mentality. They lack self discipline and end up poorer in a few years than when they received their fast money.

You know who keeps their money? The rich people who worked for it. This group of wealth builders learns to manage money, to sacrifice, to budget responsibly, to give back to others along the way, to be diligent, to work hard, and to reinvest like the faithful servants did in the story about the talents in the Bible (Matthew 25:14–30).

Money Rule #2: Greed Will Bring Trouble.
‘He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house, But he who hates bribes will live.’ Proverbs 15:27

Having money is not wrong. But letting greed drive your life is. If you are acquiring money in a greedy manner, you are dishonoring God. If having money was wrong, we wouldn’t see so many places in the Bible where God blesses people financially. These stories show how God blesses people whom He knows will share the wealth and be a blessing unto others (Proverbs 22:9). God does not bless greedy people and their success is often short lived (Proverbs 28:22).

Money Rule #3: Lay Out a God-Centered Plan.
‘The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, But those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.’ Proverbs 21:5

This world, especially the Marketplace doesn’t need flaky, fly-by-night, here-today-gone-tomorrow leaders. Jesus gave us plenty of examples of how to build a strong foundation so that we have staying power in the game. He made it clear that the first step to building a strong foundation is to lay out a strong, well thought out plan. “For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it — lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish’?” (Luke 14:28–30)

We are supposed to consider the sacrifices we will have to make, and count the cost of the project before we start building anything. When people say the Bible doesn’t talk about money and business, and that the Bible doesn’t teach marketplace leadership principles, I point them to scripture like Luke 14:28–30, I Corinthians 14:40, and others.

It is also recommended that we seek the counsel of others, perhaps people who have done what we want to do successfully, before trying to reinvent the wheel. When leaders tell me they don’t think it is necessary to seek input and assistance from others when laying down a strong plan of action, I direct them to Proverbs 15:22 where it says, ‘Without counsel, plans go awry, But in the multitude of counselors they are established.’

These scriptures, when combined, help leaders manage and budget their resources well before they start spending anything on their project. Sitting down, laying out a plan and asking others to help you fine tune that plan will keep you from wasting time and money that you may never get back. Count the cost first and then launch the project. Surprise expenses kill more businesses and ministries than you think.

Money Rule #4: Treat and Pay Your People Right.
‘Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of your hand to do so.’ Proverbs 3:27

A stingy boss is not someone who people want to work for, or someone who people are loyal to. When you begin to hire people to help you in your business, your project or your ministry, pay them right. If you have talented people on your team, pay them accordingly. Turnover of staff and good help is one of the biggest costs of doing business. When a highly skilled employee or team member leaves to work for your competitor because they pay them and treat them better than you do, the cost of hiring a new person, training them, establishing a new relationship, bringing them up to speed and integrating them into the already existing team far outweighs the cost of giving them a raise and treating them right.

If you want to learn how to treat your team members and employees well so that you don’t lose money having to hire and train new ones, read through the first five books in the Old Testament (Pentateuch), through the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John), and through Proverbs. These books teach you how to treat people. If you apply these principles towards how you treat your team members and employees, you will save a lot of money in the long run. Stop losing good people. Treat them right and pay them well.

*Read Deuteronomy 24:14Leviticus 19:13, and Proverbs 11:18 when you get a chance. They’ll give you more insight on how to pay your workers and how to earn your own pay.

Money Rule #5: Your Word & Reputation Precede You.
‘A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, Loving favor rather than silver and gold.’ Proverbs 22:1

‘A good name is better than precious ointment, And the day of death than the day of one’s birth;’ Ecclesiastes 7:1

This rule is so important that I started it with two scripture references for you to take a look at. Protect your reputation and your reputation will protect your wealth. No one wants to do business with a dishonest, conniving, unethical, untrustworthy person. If you can’t honestly say “My word is my bond”, you need to reassess the reputation you have in your business circles. If you are known to break promises, betray partners, default on loans, and cheat others, you will not be trusted with other people’s money.

Why is this important? Partnerships are key in the development of businesses, and the growth of wealth. A Bible-Based Entrepreneur knows that before he is in partnership with people, he is in business and in partnership with God. A Bible Based Business Professional knows that God is in control of all provisions, and that Our Father in Heaven will bless the people who protect the reputation of the people of God. How do we protect the reputation of the people of God? By protecting our own reputation. People will label all Christians by your wrong doings. Leaders, protect your reputation and it will protect your wealth.

Don’t ever sacrifice your reputation for money. Money doesn’t change a person. It reveals the person that was within. Let money and wealth shine a light on your God-centered character. All the money in the world cannot take the place of a good reputation. And a bad reputation will never attract lasting, generational wealth into your life.

Money Rule #6: Don’t Be a Cheater.
‘The Lord detests differing weights, and dishonest scales do not please him.’ Proverbs 20:23

It’s necessary to explain the metaphor of scales that is often found in the Bible. Back in the days of the Bible, there weren’t any credit card or debit cards, and people weighed food and provisions before paying for them. People used weights on a scale to weigh things they were going to purchase. The same scale had to be used when payment was going to happen. If a merchant used a scale when making a sale, he was expected to use the same weights when calculating payment.

Some dishonest merchants used weights that were not accurate in order to cheat and steal from others. Some merchants used different weights to calculate the sale and then calculate payment. Using today’s commonly used weight measure in the U.S., imagine if the merchant used a weight marked 1lb to weigh meat, and this weight actually weighed less than a 1lb. That means that the scale would tell the buyer that he was buying 1lb of meat but was actually getting less than a 1lb on meat. Then the merchant went to collect payment (which was often weighed) and he used a weight marked 1lb that actually weighed more than 1lb. That means the buyer is offering more for the meat than what it is worth. This is what it means to use different scales and weights.

Have you ever met someone who loved to short change others? Have you ever done business with someone who over-promises and under-delivers? Have you ever met someone who cheated someone out of money, a product or a service they deserved? God does not like it when we take a position of advantage over others by cheating them.

Money Rule #7: Use It To Edify Others.
‘Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.’ I Thessalonians 5:11

Do not use your money to tear other people down. Use your money to edify others. I’m not sure if you noticed that I put the word your in italics. There’s a reason for that. Any money you have in your bank account is not yours. If you are a true believer, you understand that your money has been given to you as provision for you to do what God needs you to do for the Kingdom. Don’t ever think you own that money. God owns that money and has put it in your hands to use it to edify your neighbors.

I once got a $175,000 check put in my hands in a real estate deal. It make me feel like I was the man! It also made me proud. I looked down on team members who had never closed any deals even close to this level. I didn’t use it to build anyone up. I used it to tear people down. Within 72 hours, the check was removed from my hand because the couple who made the purchase that provided the commission for that check had buyer’s remorse and cancelled the contract.

The ownership of money can be a very difficult demon to overcome. Not only have I never used money to put people down since that day, but GC Rosario Group has dedicated 20% of all the money that comes onto our hands, big or small, to build God’s Kingdom by building others up. We tithe 10% into our church and donate the other 10% to a worthy cause. We also reinvest as much of that which is left into the people that are building our business. Why? Because none of this money is mine or Claudia’s. This money belongs to God, to His Kingdom and to Kingdom people.

Money Rule #8: Be Resourceful With Your Resources.
‘Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.’ 2 Corinthians 9:10

God is going to provide for you in your business, in your life, in your ministry and in all your needs. God will give you what you need in order to do the things He wants you to do. God gives us the seed (resources) that we need in order to move forward. It is your responsibility to steward the resources right.

‘Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds; for riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all generations.’ Proverbs 27:23–24

This, like many of the lessons in the Bible revolve around the shepherds lives. This is because shepherds are relentless in caring for their flocks and their herds. To a shepherd, the flock and the herd represent his money, his livelihood and his resources. In the same way that shepherds protect and feed their livestock, and in the same way they must be accountable for their well being and their growth, so should you be over your money, your livelihood and your resources. Be vigilant over them.

Money Rule #9: Put Your Money Where It Matters.
‘The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But he who heeds counsel is wise.’ Proverbs 12:15

As a Christian, I spend a lot of time looking to the Bible to teach me how I should treat my finances. I remember a time when I believed I was in control. I was making great money but was not creating good in this world with my money. I then decided it was time to invest my money wisely, following proven Bible principles and my financial situation completely changed.

One great lesson I’ve learned is that the more I give away to worthy causes and good people, the more God blesses me with. So my wife and I tithe, and we make finance conscious investments in Kingdom projects that are doing good work for the people of God.

When you find something of value, you are willing to make all kinds of sacrifices to own it, or at least to have it with you. The most valuable thing we found is our relationship with God, and if we can share this relationship with others through our investments, then that’s where our investment dollars will go. We welcome you to sow a seed of faith and support in Christian based businesses and ministries. The money you sow into these will be multiplied by God for the good of the people. Visit us at www.GCRosarioGroup.com to talk about it.

Money Rule #10: Security Comes Only From God.
‘But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.’ Matthew 6:33

Want to feel safe in your life? Seek God first! Want to be blessed with your daily needs? Seek God first! Want your business or your ministry to prosper? Seek God first! Want to help more people? Seek God first! Want to live a blessed life? Seek God first! Want to give your children, and their children, and future generations the wealth and comfort you longed for? Seek God first! Want to build a bigger ministry and welcome more souls into the Kingdom of God? Seek God first!

If you are chasing money, you will never catch it. But if you are chasing God, you will be given all that you need. Notice I said all that you need. This is not prosperity preaching, which tells you that if you donate money to the church and you say you believe in God that you will be a multi-billionaire. What I am saying is that if you seek God first, all the things you need to live a fruitful life will be given onto you. In all things, seek God first!

Money Rule #11: Prosperity That Comes From God Is A Blessing.
‘And the Lord will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers to give you. The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them.’ Deuteronomy 28:11–13

Yes, this one was a long one, but BOY is it a good one. Let me tell you something. God is not a man that he should lie (Numbers 23:19). So if God promised us that He will make us the head and not the tail, and that He will make us the lender and not the borrower, and that He will grant us plenty of goods, then this is what He will do. I don’t worry about anything. When I find myself in debt, I know God’s got it. When I want to put together a project to serve Our Lord and I don’t have the money yet, I know God’s got it. When my Dad needed medical attention and we didn’t have the money, I knew God would provide. God is the great provider, and he will never let me go without what I need to live by. Amen!

In Rule #10, I said that in all things, put God first! So if you need, seek God’s favor and you will prosper. God made you and I a promise, that as long as we are obedient in His ways, He will place us in a place of promise, prominence, prosperity, power and security that will bring glory to His name.

Money Rule #12: Create Generational Wealth.
‘A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, But the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.’ Proverbs 13:22

See, money that is used for self-serving motives does not give glory to God. But a great businessperson uses money to create wealth in all places in his life. A good man, who applies Bible principles to his business, will create wealth and a legacy that will carry on into future generations; not just his children, but his children’s children and so on.

This cannot be accomplished by a man that only thinks of himself. It also cannot be accomplished by a man who doesn’t understand how to sow (invest) his money wisely so that it continues to produce fruit for future generations. Breaking the generational curse of poverty is something a Godly man should strive for.

Money Rule #13: Don’t Fall In Love With Money.
‘But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.’ I Timothy 6:9

‘Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless.’ Ecclesiastes 5:10

Whenever we see anyone in the Bible run into trouble with money, the problem is born out of misplaced love for money. I have a client at GC Rosario Group that speaks of his love/hate relationship with money. He loves to make it but hates to keep it. He says whenever his company comes into large sums of money, they look to invest that money in worthy causes and projects. These often lead to the creation of more wealth. He then shares the wealth. He has actually hired three full time people who have one responsibility; identify investment opportunities where God’s gift can be shared with others. He has funded churches, missions, ministries, Christian businesses, college funds, etc. He said when he tried to do this by himself (finding places to give money to), it became a very difficult, full time job. Not a bad problem to have.

Money principle #14: Grow What Your Papa Gave Ya!
‘Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight; you do not know what disaster may come upon the land.’ Ecclesiastes 11:2

God does not bless you for you to stay stagnant. When God provides you with resources, you must spread those resources out to create more opportunities. God wants us to grow what he gives us. I love that in Ecclesiastes it tells us to invest in 7 or 8 ventures. I’ve been following this principle since I was in my mid-twenties. I’ve made money from different sources, and have always kept my eyes and ears open to any other opportunity God may present to me.

Many financial gurus of today will tell you to diversify your portfolio and to create multiple streams of income. Most will tell you that the path to success comes from having 7 or 8 streams of income. Where do you think these pros get their information from. They may tell you they don’t believe in God, or that they don’t believe that The Word cannot be applied to business, but they are using it to sell you their financial services. This is why at GC Rosario Group we apply Bible principles to all our projects.

Money Rule #15: Don’t Make Money Your Idol.
‘No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.’ Matthew 6:24

Jesus told us “No one can serve two masters.” This is true with any idol that we put before God. Some of us put meaningless things before God. We have all been guilty of this at some point in our lives. If you are saying, “nope, not me”, I say you are lying. Here are two examples I’m guilty of.

I was never a huge sports fan, but in 1990, I skipped church to watch the Mets play the Cubs, and the Giants play the 49ers. Both of my teams lost these games by the way. I became a dad that year and watching sports was no longer a priority for me. It was God and family for me.

Before 1990 (not sure what year), I skipped church to go to a parade. New York is known for some awesome parades. My parents found out and made sure I remembered never to do this again. Latinos know that the chancleta is very persuasive. I was 15 at the time.

The same happens when people put money before God. Don’t let money take the place of God in your life. Just as I allowed a couple of sports games and a parade to distract me from God, I suggest you check your attitude about money and possessions to make sure they are not distracting you from God.

Money principle #16: Pay Taxes When Taxes Are Do.
“Show me the coin used for paying the tax.” They brought him a denarius, and he asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?” “Caesar’s,” they replied. Then he said to them, “So give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” Matthew 22:19–21

This verse talks about a time when Rome used taxes to oppress the Jewish people. The taxes were used to build everything, from things everyone could use like roads to things no one care about like statues of Caesar for the whole land to worship. This scripture does not care about how the taxes are used but rather what is supposed to be done. If you are running a business, pay your taxes. It keeps you honest and keeps the government out of your business. “If you owe taxes, pay them.”

Money Rule #17: Be A Provider, Not a Parasite.
‘Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.’ 1 Timothy 5:8

This scripture is not to be used to put men down. If the last couple of years have taught us anything, it is that we are not in control of anything. We were certainly thrown a curveball. Needless to say, a statement like this one is certainly depressing to men who have fallen behind on their responsibilities. This is definitely a strong statement.

Keep in mind that this is in fact talking about men who purposely ignore their responsibility to provide for their household. If you manage your money wisely, you will be able to provide for your household. Even non-believers do this. So, are you prepared to apply Bible principles to your business and work diligently to provide for your household? If you fall, get up and keep going. If you find yourself in trouble, humble yourself and ask for help. Do all that you can to provide for your household. Above all else, trust that God will provide in His timing as long as you do your part.

Money Rule #18: Your Workforce Must Benefit From Their Work.
‘Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of your hand to do so.’ Proverbs 3:27

Everyone who works, regardless of the work they do, deserves to benefit from the work. This responsibility falls on the leaders in the business. If someone labors for you, and they are doing what they were hired to do, pay them well. If someone serves you at a restaurant or a place of hospitality, tip them well. If someone shows your business or organization respect by putting in work, take care of them.

As for church leaders and elders, including pastors; the people should pay those in ministry a fair wage that allows them to do the work that needs to be done. Likewise, the church should find ways to financially support any volunteers who may run into hard times. I know a pastor that was working two jobs to support his household, and serving as a pastor on a full time basis with inadequate pay because the church board would not pay him adequately. When he became ill, he had to seek help from the government because the church he served for free turned their back on him. He was hurt and offended, but he failed to see that this had been done to many of the volunteers who carried the church for years.

Money is not for us to hoard. Money is for us to steward it responsibly, which includes using it to pay those who provide a service and bring us value.

Money Rule #19: Give Generously And With a Cheerful Heart.
‘But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.’ II Corinthians 9:6–7

If you have it and you can spare it, give it away. We are called to care for each other. In rule #19 I said that we are not called to be money hoarders. So if you have more than you need, find people to share it with. If a brother asks you for help and you can provide that help without hurting your business or your household, give the help. Part one of the formula that will make you successful is the call to be generous.

Here’s part 2 of this formula is to be happy when you are being generous. If you are angry when giving to others, you are not blessing them. Don’t hate a person in need. If you are going to give with anger and hate in your heart, it is best not to give because your gift will be wrapped up in sin. Instead, find joy in what your gift does for those receiving it, just like Our Father in Heaven is filled with joy when He provides for us.

Money Rule #20: Money Doesn’t Last, But The Good You Do Does.
‘Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit. In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle.’ Proverbs 23:4–5

If you make it about the money, and your focus is only on the money, you will miss the point of it all and the money will disappear. Make sure your perspective of money is correct and in agreement with The Word of God. God will breathe life into your dreams, into your goals and into your wealth if you make the focus less about the money, and more about doing Kingdom work.

Trust in God’s goodness. He is a good, good Father. The God we serve wants us to be a blessing to others. He wants us to bring joy and prosperity into other people’s lives. He has the key to all wealth and all provisions. So if you serve Him first, He will provide your daily bread. If you use the money you are blessed with to serve His purpose, the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18–20), God will provide you will all that you need to accomplish it.

Money Rule #21: Power & Prosperity Can Be Intoxicating.
‘Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath.’ Deuteronomy 8:18

You’ve probably heard the quote, “Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.” The first time I read it was in my 7th grade English literature class at I.S. 318. My teacher had it hanging over the blackboard in giant letters. I remember having a great discussion with her about it. She explained that absolute power was that of earthly kings and tyrants who could do and command whatever they pleased, and no one was allowed to contradict them, even if what they were doing or commanding was wrong. My teacher also explained that tyrannical rulers were drunk with power and were less than fair to the people they ruled. I remember her saying that the only person with absolute power that is incorruptible is God.

If my teacher were to say this today in our American educational system, she would probably lose her job. See, I didn’t go to a Christian or religion based school. I went to a secular public school. Times were different back then. We weren’t attacked for mentioning God in school or in the workplace. I mean, we used to say “One Nation Under God” every morning in the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.

Anyway, if you are a leader, or the owner at a company or organization, or if you are the head Pastor at your church, be very careful that you don’t let power go to your head. Remember that as a believer, you get all your worldly power from God. I am not the boss at GC Rosario Group. God is the BOSS in our company and we do everything according to His power, His doing and His command.

Money Rule #22: REMEMBER GOD IS IN CONTROL
‘Commit your actions to the Lord , and your plans will succeed.’ Proverbs 16:3

To reiterate what I just said in rule #21, I am NOT the boss at GC Rosario Group. No one at our company, from management all the way down is the boss. We serve our clients and we say they are in charge of every project we get involved in, but they are in no way the boss at our company. We will never agree to get involved in any project that goes against ethical business practices, or anything that goes against Bible Based Business Principles.

The Power of The Words We Say… To Ourselves

There is a huge difference between starting a sentence or a comment with the words “I feel” and “I am.” How use these two phrases in our sentences and our expressions will make a huge difference in our lives. I would go as far as to say that they can make you or break you. After all, death and life are in the power of the tongue ( Proverbs 18:21 ). I have worked for m a ny years with broken men, broken teams, broken churches and organizations, broken companies, and some large corporations that are truly broken. I have even worked with broken politicians in office, and broken criminals in jail, and some of you right now may be thinking there’s not much of a difference between the two.
